In the early ‘90s, Gytha and her mother planned to take a watercolor class
together. After her mom passed away, Gytha was determined to carry on with
their project, and discovered a whole world of creative expression she had not
before known. She creates landscapes, and still lifes and watercolor is the
medium she uses in her hair accessories and jewelry.
She has shown in locations in Sacramento, Roseville, Yountville and St. Helena.
She has participated in, and sold pieces at the Mustard Festival and Sonoma
Salute to the Arts.
Teaching art to students kindergarten through eighth grade for the last thirty years
has been her passion. She used her classes to introduce the art,
culture and traditions of countries around the globe. She loved to see children
discover in themselves the seeds of creativity and to nurture and cultivate that
interest and talent. She hopes that this interest will always enrich their lives in
some way, as it has her own. Her students have helped her to see the world
through a child’s eyes and have influenced her work.
